Community guidelines

A place of refuge. A place of resistance.

Hope & Wonder exists for one purpose: to turn attention outward. These guidelines protect that shared practice.

Shared practice

What we ask of everyone

Everything begins with genuine outward attention. These are the habits that keep Hope & Wonder human.

Share from genuine noticing.

What you share should come from something that genuinely moved you - not from a desire to promote yourself, your organisation, or your work. The question is always: am I amplifying something beyond myself, or am I using this space to draw attention to me?

Be specific and human.

The best hope and wonder is particular. A name. A place. A moment. A discovery. Generic content - vague inspiration, motivational statements, abstract positivity - is not what this space is for. If you could not answer the question "who or what specifically?" you may not be ready to share yet.

Speak in your own voice.

Hope & Wonder is not a broadcast channel. It is a personal practice. Content generated entirely by AI, copy-pasted press releases, or automated posts are not welcome here. We want to hear from you - your noticing, your wonder, your hope.

Give credit generously.

When you amplify someone, name them. Link to their work. Make it possible for others to find them. The whole point is that their story travels further.

Clear boundaries

What has no place here

These are not negotiable and will result in content being removed and accounts being reviewed.

Self-promotion.

Hope & Wonder is not a marketing platform. Sharing your own work, your own organisation, or your own achievements as the primary subject is not what this space is for. You may mention yourself in the context of amplifying someone else - but the spotlight should always point outward.

Hatred and harm.

Content that demeans, threatens, or targets people on the basis of who they are - their identity, faith, background, or body - has no place here.

Misinformation.

If you share a scientific claim, a news story, or a factual assertion, it should be true to the best of your knowledge. Wonder is built on honest encounter with the world, not on falsehood dressed up as awe.

Divisive ideology.

Hope & Wonder welcomes people of all faiths, none, and every political background. What has no place here is content that weaponises political or religious belief - using it to demean others, to exclude, or to inflame division rather than to inspire hope and wonder. The test is not what you believe but how you share it. Content that turns attention inward toward tribalism and grievance rather than outward toward the hopeful and extraordinary contradicts the spirit of this space.

Exploitation of the platform's goodwill.

Hope & Wonder is a space of genuine warmth and trust. Using that warmth as cover - to promote organisations, causes, or agendas that contradict everything this platform stands for - undermines the entire project. If you are here in good faith, these guidelines will feel natural. If you are not, we will find out.

Spam and automation.

Repeated posting of similar content, automated accounts, or any use of the platform to generate volume rather than genuine sharing will be removed.

How moderation works

Hope & Wonder is a small, human-run platform. We use a combination of AI-assisted filtering and community flagging to help us identify content that may not belong here. Every decision is made by a human being, with human attention and care.

The AI layer does an initial pass, flagging content that may violate our community guidelines for human review. It does not make decisions. It surfaces things for us to look at. The final call is always ours.

If you see something that does not belong here, use the report button. We will look at it.

If your content is removed or your account is reviewed, we will tell you why.

We are not looking for reasons to exclude people. We are looking to protect the quality of the space for everyone in it.

A note on network pages

Organisations, events, and learning spaces who host Hope & Wonder network pages take on shared responsibility for their communities. By creating a network page you agree to encourage your community to use the platform in the spirit of these guidelines.

We will work with you if problems arise - and we ask you to work with us.

The spirit

These guidelines protect attention.

Most platforms write community guidelines to protect themselves from liability. We are writing these to protect something more fragile and more valuable - the quality of attention in this space.

Hope & Wonder works because people arrive here and genuinely turn their focus outward. The moment it becomes another place to perform, promote, or posture - even positively - something essential is lost. These guidelines exist to prevent that.

There is always another story. We are here to surface it, together.
