With Oliver Pelling
“"I think storytelling and communications can play a pivotal role in accelerating the positive change we need to see. There is no shortage of good happening in the world, we just need to be better at sharing those stories."”
Reflections
Q1: Place
If we could do a flypast on any part of the world that is significant to you, which place, city or country would it be and why?
Eastbourne in England
Q2: Life
Give us a glimpse into your life story so far with an emphasis on what you are doing currently?
I studied Journalism and Creative Writing and during that time, met a girl from New Zealand, who upended my life and we moved to Melbourne, Australia via New Zealand. After I graduated my desire was to get into magazines and newspapers, ended up working for Intrepid Travel and then in Advertising but after five years of freelancing set up my own creative comms agency Good and Proper to help promote and accelerate stories focused on solutions, hope and action.
Q3: Reset
Where on earth is your place or reset or re-charge?
Conversations really help me reset and recharge
Q4: Wonder
What wonder of the natural world excites you the most?
Human connection and just remembering that we are part of nature
Q5: Hopefulness
What is your story of hopefulness (not your own) about a person, business or non-profit who are doing amazing things for the world?
There's lots of people out there talking about all the good they're doing which is amazing and they should be doing that. There are also many people that don't self promote, like the woman we photographed named Jackie who is re-wilding her area. She is turning all of the land at the front of her house into vegetable gardens. Another women Charine works from home and does a consulting job to get fossil fuel organisations to transition. All these people are doing such incredible things with no headlines.
