The Endless Wonder of Waves

I was at the Bay yesterday, on a rocky shore, watching the waves. For the umpteenth time - I go daily. And for the umpteenth time I wondered about how the waves work. They're different every day, and at different times of the day. I'm wondering what the combination is of wind direction and strength, topography of the Bay, and tides that makes them the way they are. I also wondered what makes them so engaging. I can watch them, one by one or all together, on and on and on, completely drawn in.
